On March 29, 2023, residents/business owners in certain neighborhoods surrounding Lake Lansing, as well as two areas near Wonch and Ferguson Parks, were sent letters informing them of sewer rehabilitation work being done by the Township. This project is part of an ongoing utility maintenance program that will sustain the high-quality sanitary sewer infrastructure in these neighborhoods.

An innovative trenchless process will be used to rehabilitate underground sections of the sanitary sewer main. This process is called Cured in Place Pipe (CIPP) lining. Instead of digging up and replacing the old pipe, the contractor will seal minor defects with grout or install a specialized lining material inside the existing sanitary sewer main. 

Those who live in areas where CIPP lining will be implemented will have to limit sewer use for 1 day while this work is being done. During the scheduled service outage, the sewer connection to the home/business will be temporarily sealed off.

This means limiting the number of times a toilet is flushed to the greatest extent possible. This also means no dishes, laundry, bathing, or shower. The outage should last approximately 3-8 hours, and a notice will be hand-delivered by the contractor at least 24 hours before CIPP work is to be done.
