School COVID-19 Rapid Testing Information:

Okemos Public Schools:

Faith Lutheran Church (4515 Dobie Rd.) is going to be the Okemos Public Schools Student COVID-19 Rapid Testing Site for this school year. Testing will take place every school day morning. The church will begin to function as the testing site Wednesday, September 22.  Testing will begin each school day at 7:00 am and end around 9:00 am.

If students have been exposed to COVID-19, they can choose to quarantine for ten days OR they can choose to come to Faith Lutheran Church, the Okemos drive-thru testing site, get tested and wait in cars for the result of the rapid test.  If negative, they will be given a pass to attend school.  If positive, they will receive other instructions.  Safe procedures will be in place.  A doctor will be on site almost every day.  Okemos Public Schools will be providing all of the tests, PPE equipment for volunteers and all other resources.

Faith Lutheran Church is urgently in need of volunteers to help with this process and program.  Okemos Public Schools will create a work schedule and they will also pay each volunteer $18 per hour.  For those interested in volunteering to help in this effort, please contact Pastor Ellen Schoepf by email prellen@faithlutheranokemos.org or by calling 517.974.5570.

Haslett Public Schools:

Haslett Public Schools is offering Rapid Testing to all unvaccinated students who have been identified as being in close contact (0-3 feet) with a positive individual. New guidance from the Ingham County Health Department (ICHD) allows students to participate in serial COVID-19 testing on days 2, 3, 4, 5 and again on day 7, following the known exposure date (day 0). A negative result must be obtained in the morning of each testing day in order for the student to return to school for that day.

COVID-19 testing is available in the morning before school at the following locations:

  • Elementary Students (K-5)

    • Haslett Administration Building (5593 Franklin St.)

    • 7:00 am - 8:00 am

  • Middle School Students (6-8)

    • Haslett Middle School (1535 Franklin St.)

    • 7:00 am - 7:40 am

  •  High School Students (9-12)

    • Haslett High School (5450 Marsh Rd.)

    • 7:00 am - 7:45 am

Please contact your building principal to arrange a time for your child to participate in this COVID-19 Rapid Testing program.

Students/staff who have tested positive for COVID-19 within the past three (3) months, or those who are fully vaccinated (two weeks after their last dose of an FDA approved COVID-19 vaccine) do NOT need to quarantine if they are exposed, unless they are experiencing symptoms. Fully vaccinated individuals should be tested 3-5 days after exposure and wear a mask for 14 days, or until they receive a negative test result.
