The decision to start a business is a significant one that is quickly followed by equally significant questions: What type of business? What business structure is advantageous to my venture? What makes an effective business plan? Where will the financing come from? What licenses, permits, or registrations are required by the local government?

LICENSES & PERMITS

Business Licenses

Meridian Township does not require a business operator to apply for business licensing with the Township. Businesses operating in the State of Michigan are required to obtain a license and certain businesses require certification in order to obtain a license. The above link as a list of required licenses by the State of Michigan.

Liquor Licenses

Meridian Township establishments are permitted to sell wine & spirits as long as they have  the correct zoning and receive an approved license from the State of Michigan. For quota licenses are granted by the State of Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA)  with approval from the Township Board. Interested parties should complete an application for Liquor License and submit to the Township Clerk for review. Final approval is authorized by the Township Board through a resolution.
