Upon investigation, the cause of the sink hole was determined to be failing storm sewer pipes under the intersection, which are part of the Hillbrook Drain. 

The Ingham County Drain Commissioner’s Office (ICDC) has issued a Declaration of Emergency Condition to expedite the repair of the storm sewer pipes and the restoration (i.e. paving) of the intersection.

For everyone’s safety, the intersection will be closed until further notice. Property owners adjacent to this intersection should be aware that the repairs at this intersection will require significant excavation work.

The Township will publish additional information in the construction updates section below as that information is made available to us by the ICDC. The construction scheduled is TBD until the ICDC is able to obtain a contractor and develop a schedule.
