Following 24 years of service in the Meridian Township Parks and Recreation Department, Director LuAnn Maisner has announced her retirement.
“My work for Meridian Township has not been work, it has been a dream realized. Many of the projects that were accomplished could not have been possible without the support of the Park Commission, Township Board, administration, staff, and the residents of the community. Good things happen when you surround yourself with talented staff who are passionate about the community, and I feel very humbled and blessed to have had this opportunity,” said Parks and Recreation Director LuAnn Maisner.
Director Maisner began her career with Meridian Township on October 25, 1999, and was the first Parks and Recreation Director for Meridian Township. Prior to her role with the Township, Maisner served as the Recreation and Marina Supervisor for the City of Muskegon’s Department of Leisure Services. She was also the first Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of DeWitt, a role she held for six years before joining Meridian Township.
Throughout her time with the Township, Maisner was involved with the development of Towner Road Park, Hartrick Park, Orlando Park, Cedar Bend Heights Neighborhood Park, Marketplace on the Green, Large Dog Park, Small Dog Park, and many more projects in the community.
“For nearly 25 years, LuAnn has served our community with outstanding leadership and an unbridled desire to create Michigan’s number one rated park system,” stated Township Manager Frank Walsh. “Under LuAnn’s tutelage, our parks, recreation, trails, and land preserves have become a beacon of enjoyment for people of all ages. We will miss LuAnn’s positive direction and commitment to excellence.”
Director Maisner’s last day will be on January 3, 2024.
