Meridian Freedom Fest: Community Forum Discussion

Join the community to discuss cultural issues and hear of Black experiences in Meridian Township led by Dr. Deresa Scott.  Dr. Scott earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership specializing in complex trauma within the BIPOC student populations.  Dr. Scott is recognized for her training and leadership experience in the areas of Social-Emotional wellness, Restorative Justice and practices, DEI and for her commitment to advocating for adjudicated youth.

The forum will be recorded and aired on HOMTV, Meridian Township’s Government Access Channel.

This event is part of the Meridian Freedom Fest honoring Juneteenth.

Dr. Deresa Marie Scott earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership specializing in complex trauma within the BIPOC student populations.  Dr. Scott is recognized for her training and leadership experience in the areas of Social-Emotional wellness, Restorative Justice and practices, DEI and for her commitment to advocating for adjudicated youth.

Dr. Scott works with K-12 schools and private sectors and remains committed to optimizing and improving outcomes through professional opportunities that are responsive frameworks aimed at developing cultural relevance, engagement, and coaching for equity to systematically change practices that affect our urban communities. Deresa has a unique way of disaggregating data to help leaders gain agency, while systematically (re) discovering reflective practices that educes change and delivers in a manner that is compassionate, inspiring, and passionate. Deresa uses her voice to change and at times challenge the narrative/bias of marginalized youth and challenges others to interrupt inequalities that detrimentally affect our children and communities.
