EVENT RESCHEDULED FROM MARCH 18TH TO MARCH 30TH FROM 2 PM TO 3:30 PM
Due to unforeseen circumstances the event scheduled today, March 18th, will be rescheduled to March 30th from 2 pm to 3:30 pm at the same location. We apologize for any inconvenience.
(REGISTRATION REQUIRED | LIMIT 20 PARTICIPANTS)
Celebrate the Vernal Equinox with us and discover the magical world of Vernal Pools! These special wetlands are often small, temporary bodies of water that host an amazing array of species like fairy shrimp. We will learn about the indicator species that travel to vernal pools in spring to complete their life cycle, and use vernal pool monitoring kits to explore what lies beneath the waters surface. These places mark the start of spring for us, and we are very excited to observe this awakening in our natural areas. Come connect, learn and conserve with us!
Trailside Ecology walks happen throughout the entire year, generally once a month, with a different theme. These walks are all about igniting your natural curiosity and opening your mind to whatever we might observe, both big and small. If you want to learn, relax in nature, or meet other awesome folks, these walks will be a treat for you.
Participants are required to register for the event in order to maintain the ecological integrity of our vernal pools at this sensitive time of year. This event will be limited to 20 participants. Simply send an email to Emma Campbell at ecampbell@meridian.mi.us, or call 517.853.4614 to notify of your attendance. All workdays and events are outdoors and may be canceled due to inclement weather. If you would like to join the Meridian Conservation Corps to receive email updates on future stewardship events and get MCC swag, visit the Meridian Conservation Corps webpage to sign up.
