(EVENT CANCELLATION) Stewardship Saturday

Invasive Species Removal

EVENT CANCELLATION

Unfortunately due to the snow and cold temperatures, our event scheduled for today, March 23rd, will be cancelled. We apologize for the inconvenience, but these conditions are just not good for the type of work planned. Our next Stewardship Saturday will be back at Hartrick Park, on April 6th, from 9:30 am to 12 pm.

Join us at our beloved little gem, Hartrick Park, to kick off the spring invasive pull! We will be scouting and pulling dame's rocket and garlic mustard, two herbaceous invasive plants that plague natural areas in the springtime. These invasives take up valuable room that would otherwise be filled with spring ephemerals, like trout lily and trillium. No experience is necessary, we will teach you everything you need to know about managing these pesky plants. All tools will be provided. Please dress appropriately for the weather, and wear closed-toed shoes. Come connect, learn, and conserve with us!

Stewardship Saturdays occur every other Saturday from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm at a different location. Help the Meridian Conservation Corps restore habitat across our parks and preserves through activities like invasive plant removal and sowing native seeds. Stewardship workdays are a great way to get outdoors and improve our community!

Participants are encouraged to pre-register but walk-ins are welcome. To register, or for more information, please contact Land Stewardship Coordinator Emma Campbell at ecampbell@meridian.mi.us or call at 517.853.4614. All workdays are outdoors and may be canceled due to inclement weather. If you would like to join the Meridian Conservation Corps to receive email updates on future stewardship events and get MCC swag, visit the Meridian Conservation Corps webpage to sign up.
