Help us celebrate 50 years of the Friends of Historic Meridian!
On Sunday, May 5, the Friends of Historic Meridian (FHM) will hold a birthday party to commemorate 50 years since the organization was founded. The event will take place from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Meridian Historical Village (5151 Marsh Road, Okemos).
The event will kick off at 3:00 pm in the Village Chapel, where various individuals will present on the history of the Friends of Historic Meridian and showcase snippets of Meridian Township history through the years. Following the program, cake and punch will be served.
All historic buildings will be open for tours from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, including the General Store. The store features a variety of historical items available for purchase and will have a limited amount of merchandise featuring the FHM's new logo.
The FHM are responsible for preserving and maintaining the historic structures in the Meridian Historical Village, while also offering a variety of community outreach and educational programs. They offer on-site field trips that are designed to make history come alive, provide a day camp for children in August, and host the Heritage Festival and Christmas in the Village events in October and December.
