Join us at Lake Lansing North Preserve to help out a beautiful wetland buffer being invaded by wetland shrubs! This preserve is one of our most diverse areas containing rare native plants that need protecting. We will work along a wetland edge to cut and remove invasive shrubs like common buckthorn and Japanese barberry. All tools will be provided and no experience is necessary! Please dress appropriately for the weather. Waterproof footwear is advised due to the wet nature of our natural areas at this time.
Stewardship Saturdays occur every other Saturday from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm at a different location. Help the Meridian Conservation Corps restore habitat across our parks and preserves through activities like invasive plant removal and sowing native seeds. Stewardship workdays are a great way to get outdoors and improve our community!
Participants are encouraged to pre-register but walk-ins are welcome. To register, or for more information, please contact Land Stewardship Coordinator Emma Campbell at ecampbell@meridian.mi.us or call at 517.853.4614. All workdays are outdoors and may be canceled due to inclement weather. If you would like to join the Meridian Conservation Corps to receive email updates on future stewardship events and get free MCC swag, visit the Meridian Conservation Corps webpage to sign up.
