(EVENT CANCELLATION)
Due to weather conditions today, this event scheduled for January 23rd, 2024 will be cancelled. We will reschedule for January 31st, 2024 at 5:30 pm.
Meet us at the end of Sylvan Glen Road in Okemos for our second Trailside Ecology Night Hike! This beautiful preserve is located along the Red Cedar River and is frequented by local owl species. Owls are currently in their breeding season and are the most vocal this time of year. We will use red lamps and head out on the trails in hopes to hear their calls. We will learn about these unique birds in their natural habitat. Red lights and hot cocoa will be available while supplies last!
Trailside Ecology programs occur once a month at a different location. Learn more about local flora and fauna while getting to know our parks and preserves with the guidance of, Stewardship Coordinator, Emma Campbell.
Participants are encouraged to pre-register but walk-ins are welcome. To register, or for more information, please contact Land Stewardship Coordinator, Emma Campbell, at ecampbell@meridian.mi.us or call at 517.853.4614. All events are outdoors and may be cancelled due to inclement weather.
