Join the Michigan Waterway Stewards on Saturday, November 11 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm for a community-wide event to celebrate and help clean up the Red Cedar River! This event is being hosted by the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity at Michigan State University (MSU) and will be held at their fraternity house, located at 1218 E. Grand River Avenue in East Lansing.
The goal of this campaign is to help raise awareness about the Red Cedar River and to deter the disposal of electric scooters, bicycles, and other objects into the river. Community members are invited to assist in the cleanup while also enjoying a warm fire, food, drinks, guided river ecotours, fly fishing lessons, and magnet fishing. There will also be canoes and kayaks available for anyone looking to take a trip down the river.
Garbage bags, gloves, trash pickers, and hand sanitizer will be provided for those who participate in the cleanup.
