For the first time since 2019, The Great Divide competition will return on Friday, October 28 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Home Depot (1749 Newman Road, Okemos).

The Great Divide is a friendly competition between Meridian Township Fire Department and East Lansing Fire Department to see who can cut a car in half first using only a battery-operated reciprocating saw. East Lansing Fire won in 2018 and 2019, so Meridian Township is looking to bring the trophy back home with them this year. The car-cutting competition will begin at 1:00 pm.  

The event is sponsored by Home Depot and will include hot dogs, chips and liquid refreshments. The Michigan State University cheer team and Williamston High School Marching Band will also be in attendance.
