Meridian Fishing Derby

  • Introduction: Spend a Day of Fun Fishing at Historical Village Pond!

Families and friends can enjoy one of Michigan's premiere outdoor activities - Michigan fishing! The annual Meridian Fishing Derby will take place at the Meridian Historical Village Pond (5151 Marsh Road, Okemos) on Sunday, June 12 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and is free for ages 16 and under. 

Activities include:

  • Learn to cast
  • Fun with macroinvertebrates (snails, worms, crayfish, clams, etc.)
  • Games

  • And of course fishing! 

No license is required, but we do encourage you to buy a $2 volunteer license (which brings back money to Michigan from the Wallop Breaux Act). Information on how purchase a license can be found on the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) website. 

Please come with your own fishing equipment. Some fishing equipment will be provided on a first come, first serve basis (limited supplies).
